HELEN L. FEWEL
Graveside services for Helen L. Fewel, 83, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence. Mrs. Fewel died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born June18, 1918 at Lincoln, Mo., the daughter of Albert E. and Amy Langston Phifer. She was raised in Missouri and later moved to Baldwin City. She has been a Lawrence resident since 1953.
She married Eugene V. Fewel March 28, 1937, in Olathe. He preceded her in death on July 5,1997.
Mrs. Fewel was a proofreader at The Lawrence Journal World in the classified department, the University Press of Kansas and at Allen Press prior to retiring in 1960.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church; Rebekah Lodge #7454, Lawrence, and a past member of the Rebekah Lodge in Baldwin City and was a past Noble Grand; Ladies Eagle Auxiliary #309 member and R.E.A.C. past president in Lawrence, and past member of Mothers Club, Baldwin City.
Survivors include one son, Terry Fewel, Lawrence; one daughter, Jan Pollard, Lawrence; two sisters, Juanita Tucker, Hot Springs, Ark., and Amy Tabor, Waterloo, Iowa; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice Care of Douglas County or Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
