DORIS DARLENE SCRAPER
Funeral services for Doris Darlene Scraper, 68, Baldwin City, were Monday in Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. Scraper died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 4,1932 in Baldwin City, the daughter of Ralph and Gladys Helena (Vaughn) Kelly. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1950.
She worked for the Lawrence Post Office as a postal carrier for several years and later worked as a child care provider in the Baldwin City area.
She married Joseph Scraper in Baldwin City on October 29, 1974. They were married 26 years.
Mrs. Scraper was an active member of the Coast to Coast Travel Club, Lawrence Chapter of NARFE (associate member) and served on the Baldwin City Zoning Appeals Board. She was also an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
She was preceded in death by one son, Derek Anderson, two brothers, Robert Kelly and William Kelly, and her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Joe, of the home; two sons, Joseph Scraper, Jr., Topeka, and James Scraper and his wife, Stacy, North Port, Fla.; six daughters, Donna Bergman, Perry, Debi Taylor and her husband, Charles, Lawrence, Elizabeth Harper and her husband, James, Perry, Susan Bradley and her husband, Ron, Wichita, Diana King and her husband, Dave, Henley, Mo., Stephanie Scraper and her husband, Jerry Moses, Lawrence; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
