- On the strength of solid pitching and red-hot bats that accounted for 38 hits and 45 runs, the Baldwin Bombers 13-14-year-old baseball team blasted through its Lawrence competition for three big wins last week and in the process improved its season record to 8-2.

- Team Kansas placed fourth in greco-roman and seventh in freestyle at the Cadet National Duals in Denver this past weekend. Minnesota won titles in both styles. There were 22 teams from 18 states competing. Kansas entered two teams, Kansas Gold and Kansas Silver.

- Opening night for “Annie” Saturday was “lightninged out,” but as the little red-headed orphan is so proud to sing, “The sun will come out, tomorrow.”
And, it did. The Baldwin City Theatre presentation did make a successful appearance on Sunday and put on quite a show for an audience of more than 100.
Kathy Davis, executive director of CLEAR which puts on the show, has had plenty of experience with weather and outdoor shows over the years.
