There were lots of fun and games in the stands for Baker University’s return to play for the semester with the students back in the stands Saturday night. But the real game was on the floor where the Baker men slugged it out with arch-rival William Jewell and survived a 3-point shot at the buzzer to capture a 60-57 win.

Blaze levels vacant house

A fire Saturday night destroyed a vacant house at 346 1100 Road. Although the house was a total loss, a nearby propane tank and horse barn were closely guarded by firefighters as the blaze was being extinguished.

The Baldwin High School Bulldog varsity wrestling team keeps climbing the ladder to success. Their record is now 8-5 overall in duals and 4-1 in the tough Frontier League which has six teams that have been ranked in this year’s state poll.

WELLSVILLE It wasn’t exactly what they wanted, but the Baldwin High School girls came home with a third-place trophy from the always tough Top Gun Tournament here Saturday.

WELLSVILLE Eventually, the Baldwin High School Bulldogs figured out their massive size advantage over the Wellsville Eagles here Friday night. Eventually, it meant a 52-37 victory for BHS in game that was close early, but never should have been.
Historical society prepares for annual meeting

The Santa Fe Trail Historical Society’s annual meeting is at 6 p.m. Sunday in the Fellowship Hall at the First United Methodist Church, 704 8th Street. The public is invited to attend the potluck dinner and meeting, which will include the election of officers and a guest speaker.
