Baldwin holiday home tour set for this weekend
Part of the tradition of the holidays is the viewing of decorated houses.
Most people only see the decorated houses from the outside. But there will be a chance this weekend to see some homes from the inside as well.
The fourth Baldwin City Chamber of Commerce Annual Holiday Homes Tour, which is sponsored by Stephens Real Estate, will run Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at Baldwin State Bank, the Chamber of Commerce and Stephens Real Estate.
Debbie French-Morgan, Stephens realtor, said the proceeds from ticket sales goes toward the Chamber of Commerce holiday decoration fund.
"Our intent is to decorate the downtown businesses," French-Morgan said. "This is kind of what we can give back to the community."
The four houses that will be featured on the tour, two Victorian and two rural, are owned by Billy and Lisa Robertson, 1210 Eighth St., Chuck and Annie France 1214 Eighth St., Rick and Christina Madl, 1695 N. 145 Road, and Tom and Diane Boyd, 117 E. 1700 Road.
"They're all really diverse," French-Morgan said.
The holiday home tour, which runs in conjunction with the afternoon Baldwin Community Arts Council Christmas Tea, is running a couple of hours longer this year, she said, in order to give people the opportunity to view the homes during the evening hours.
"We had people request to extend hours to see the houses with the Christmas lights on," she said.
People look forward to the home tour every year, French-Morgan said.
"It's a great day out for both men and ladies," she said. "It's a small town. Everybody likes to look at people's homes."
