Baker steps up big time for Bash
Baker University has again given a big boost to the Bulldog Bash campaign by agreeing to supply the food for the event for the second straight year. With the assistance of BU food service director, Darrell Bowersox, Dale Enick's Bash food committee will be putting out a tasty barbecue buffet that will feature the normal main dish of hot dogs and brats, as well as a tasty array of salads.
"It's really great to see Baker support the Bash. Darrell Bowersox has made all of the Baker food service facilities available for us and all we have to do is truck it back and forth and get it ready for the crowd. Darrell knows how to feed a large amount of people in a short amount of time and his expertise definitely helps us out. We're really fortunate to have Baker helping us out," said Enick.
In addition to supplying the food, Baker is assisting with the Bash in other ways. Baker is making available its large outdoor charcoal cooker for the event and the BU softball field will be the site of several games and contests for the kids. Baker director of student activities, Susan Hoffman, will assist with supplying a sound system. In a somewhat "distant" Baker connection, BU alum Jack Metzger, owner of the Topeka-based Metzger Tent Rental, has agreed to again provide two tents for the Bash at no charge.
"Being able to use Baker's facilities and equipment gives the Bash a big lift. The food contribution is huge because it will allow us to put even more money back into the student groups involved with the Bash," said Enick.
