August Art Walk to include jazz group
This month's Art Walk will feature a vast selection of quilts. The Maple Leaf Quilters Guild will be the featured artist Friday, Aug. 17. Quilts will be displayed at downtown businesses in front of storefronts and are available for viewing beginning at 7 p.m.
The Baldwin Community Arts Council will also present a sidewalk exhibit on the southwest side of High Street. Included in the August show will be works in a wide variety of styles and media, including photography, watercolor, prismacolor, pastels, mixed media, stained glass, jewelry and ceramics with works by local and regional artists including Sandy Cardens, Christy Carlisle, Ginny Cobb, Leigh Coffman, Linda Everett, Robbie Lamoreaux, Cindy Novelo, Lisa Slavin, Krista McClenahan, Caroline Tanner, Paula Johnson and
Phyllis Nelson. Artwork will also be on display in Discoveries, Espress Yourself, The Baldwin City Signal and Solomons Antiques. These businesses will remain open until 9 p.m.
The Baldwin Community Arts Council will also host the musical entertainment for the evening. The 312th Army Band's Jazz Combo from Lawrence will set the stage for patrons to listen to music while strolling the sidewalks enjoying the art from many talented artists.
