Antiques appraisal returns to Baldwin
It is time to start digging for those treasures tucked away in the attic. "Diamonds in the Rough" is returning to Baldwin City for the second time this year.
The response to this popular treasure hunt has been so overwhelming that the Baldwin Community Arts Council is hosting a second appraisal for this year. This event is Baldwin's version of the national PBS program "Antiques Roadshow."
The date of this special event is Saturday, Aug. 25. It will be held at the Baldwin City Library from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. David Solomons will be on hand at the Baldwin City Public Library ready to give his expert valuation of those treasured items found tucked away in the attic.
Solomons has 16 years experience with five years as an accredited appraiser with the International Society of Appraisers with Specialties in Art, Porcelain, Glass and Decorative Art Accessories. He presently is represented in his own gallery, Solomons Antique Gallery in downtown Baldwin City, and in the Mission Antique Mall in Overland Park.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at Solomons Antiques, Discoveries and C. Designs Flower Shop in Baldwin City. The cost is $10 for one item and $25 for three. Purchase tickets in advance to save time and insure no waiting. Time slots fill rather quickly so don't wait until the last minute to get tickets. No one will be turned away.
Proceeds go to benefit the Baldwin Community Arts Council with all the money being used in the Baldwin Community for scholarships and promoting the arts. Additional information may be obtained by contacting Sandy Cardens at 594-4261 or David Solomons at 594-6468.
