Reading program closes with a splash
Baldwin City Recreation provided a pool party for all the readers who completed the requirements for the Summer Reading program this summer at the Baldwin City Library. Three hundred fifty-five children were registered, 236 completed the requirements and more than 100 attended the swimming party last Friday. Participants read a total of 5,225 books.
The preschool and kindergarten children read or listened to at least 20 books. There were many children who read and enjoyed a lot more than the required amount of books. The older readers read seven books or 700 pages.
Pizza Hut, Santa Fe Market, Sonic and Arrowhead Hardware provided treats for the readers. The busy library staff and library volunteers gave many hours of their time to provide this popular, successful summer program.
