Softball tournament,

candlelight vigil set

Trevor's Tournament/Candlelight Vigil is a co-ed softball tournament ending with a candlelight vigil to help bring awareness to the fact that "Every Child Is a Blessing." The tournament will be the weekend of May 12 and 13, with proceeds to benefit the Trevor Leeker Scholarship Fund which is for an individual who is entering a field that will focus on special needs children.

Trevor was the son of Bill and Michelle Leeker, Baldwin City, who was diagnosed with Krabbes disease in March, 2000. Krabbes is a rare genetic disorder that affects infants and is terminal. Trevor passed away on February 17, 2001 and taught everyone around him how important children are.

Teams will consist of 10-12 players (with at least five females/males per team). Those interested can sign up as a team or as an individual to be placed on a team. There will be an entry fee for teams and individuals. Deadlines for entries is April 20.

For more information about registration, call Michelle Leeker at 594-2744 or e-mail at Registration forms are also available at Baldwin City Recreation, The Lodge or Santa Fe Market.
