BHS runners take two
The Baldwin High School cross country teams won both meets entered during the past week. On Thursday, the BHS boys and girls easily won the Prairie View meet and on Monday pulled the same easy sweep at Anderson County.
Monday, the Bulldog boys scored 24 points to outdistance second-place Central Heights by 30. Anderson County had 98 points, followed by Iola with 99, Lousiburg 144, Santa Fe Trail 144, Council Grove 187 and Eudora 204.
The girls did even better Monday with 27 points to second-place Pomona's 72. SFT had 80, Council Grove 102, Paola 112, Jayhawk-Linn 141, Central Heights 198 and Prairie View 205.
Individually, the Noonans led the way again with Matt taking first with a 16:25 time and Megan finishing second at 11:40.
"We had good strong races," said coach Mike Spielman. "Matt set a new course record and Megan set a new school record."
The other boys finishes were: Eric Black, fourth, 17:43; Glen Stansberry, sixth, 17:57; Brayton Gladhart, seventh, 17:58; Jonathan Strong, 11th, 18:12; Corey Martinez, 14th, 18:33; and Hans Broers, 26th, 19:18.
For the girls it was: Eric Ogle, fourth, 12:34; Kayla Pringle, sixth, 13:06; Shawna Trarbach, eighth, 13:24; Michelle Pressgrove, 16th, 13:41; Abby Hofmeier, 14th, 13:38; and Nicki Frerking, 17th, 13:48.
Thursday's meet saw the BHS boys score 24 points to Central Heights' 48, Leeton, Mo., 80, and Louisburg 83. The girls had 23 points to outdistance Drexel, Mo., which had 51, Jayhawk-Linn 73 and Central Heights 90.
