ALBERT CHRISTIAN SCHWARZ
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today for Albert Christian Schwarz, 96, Baldwin City, at St. John's United Church of Christ, near Worden. Mr. Schwarz died Sunday, November 26, 2000 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born February 26, 1904 on the family farm near Worden, the son of William Frederick and Louisa (Young) Schwarz. He attended Globe Grade School.
He married Neva E. Freeland on January 14, 1928 in Parkville, Mo. She died in August of 1977. They were married 49 years.
He was a farmer and stockman. He retired from farming and moved to Baldwin City in 1968. After moving to Baldwin City, he worked as a carpenter, helping build homes and the grocery store.
He was a longtime member of St. John's United Church of Christ where he served as a board member in 1954.
Mr. Schwarz is survived by: a daughter, Marian Hesser, Commerce City, Colo.; three sons, Kenneth Schwarz and his wife, Karron, Lawrence, Dale Schwarz and his wife, Phylis, Baldwin City and Robert Schwarz and his wife, Patricia, Adams, Wis.; two sisters, Erna Holmes, Manhattan and Dorothea Flory, Lawrence; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association in care of Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, PO Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
