Ezell’s name is on ballot
Vernon "Monte" Ezell, Baldwin City Recreation Director, has been nominated by his peers in the Kansas Recreation and Parks Association (KRPA) to appear on the ballot to be elected as a Member at Large to represent eastern Kansas in association matters. The election will be held later this year with results posted in January at KRPA's annual meeting.
Ezell has been the recreation director in Baldwin since September of 1999 after serving as Director in Bolivar, Mo. Since coming to Baldwin City, Ezell has been very active in identifying recreational program needs, assessing facility issues, as well as serving USD 348 patrons and the community in numerous ways. He will also be teaching a class at Baker University during the 2001 January Interterm.
Recreation commission chair Paul Vander Tuig wasn't surprised by the selection of Ezell.
"It is not surprising to me or the other commissioners that Monte's skills have been recognized by his peers," said Vander Tuig. "While he has not been officially elected, patrons of Baldwin City recreation programs should be proud to know that his skills are evident to others in the profession.
"As commissioners, we certainly are proud of what Monte has been able to accomplish for our community in his first 15 months on the job," he said. "We believe that he will continue to increase the recreational opportunities as our district grows. Knowing Monte, any accolades will be downplayed, but we are pleased to see his professional skills recognized and know that he will continue to be active and serve us all well."
