Baker basketball opens with wins
LAWRENCE Baker University opened the basketball season here Saturday in a big way, with both the mens and womens teams taking victories over Haskell Indian Nations University.
The BU women opened by pounding Haskell 83-68 and the men followed with a similar score, winning 85-67.
Leading the way for the Baker women was Tasha Gentry with 17 points. Close behind was Triece Baker with 15 points and both Cory Shoaf and Monique Everett added 13. It was the first win for first-year coach Susan Decker.
On the mens side, Baker had 18 points from Aaron Schwerman.
Next action for the men will be at Ottawa Wednesday. The women played St. Mary's Tuesday night, but results weren't available by press time.
