Helen E. (Pippert) Strong

Services for Helen E. (Pippert) Strong, 90, Baldwin City, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Baldwin City. Burial will follow at the Worden Cemetery.

Mrs. Strong died Sunday, May 14, 2000 at the Baldwin Care Center.

She was born March 11, 1910, on the family farm seven miles west of Baldwin City in the Worden community, the daughter of John and Dollie (Kauffman) Pippert. She grew up on the farm and attended Union Rural School.

She lived in Lake View, where she worked as a ticket agent for the railroad. She lived in Eudora for eight years before moving to rural Baldwin City in 1938.

Mrs. Strong was a member of the Worden United Methodist Church and Lot-N-Chat Club.

She married Harry E. Strong on Nov. 9, 1927. He died March 29, 1997.

Survivors include a son, Marvin Strong, Baldwin City; a daughter Wanda Fuhrman, Cummings; a sister Mae Hoffman, Lawrence, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Her parents, one sister, Elise Hoffman; and two brothers, Ralph and Albert Pippert preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Baldwin Care Center, which may be sent in care of the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home P.O. Box 64, Baldwin City 66006.
