Subway softball team takes fourth
The Subway 11 & 12 year girls softball team recently placed fourth in the Tri-County 12 & under softball tournament hosted by Wellsville.
The Subway team was defeated in their first game by the Louisburg 1 team by a score of 8-7. The Subway team then came back with three consecutive wins against Spring Hill 1 team (10-8); Spring Hill 2 team (10-8) and the Eudora 1 team (17-16). Their final game (fourth of the day in back-to-back games) in the tournament was a loss to the Louisburg 2 team by a score of 18-3. Each player was presented with a fourth place trophy.
The team resumed regular game play on June 21 and was
defeated by the Wellsville 2 team by a score of 14-4. Highlights of the game included a home run by Shannon Hornberger. The player of the game was Amanda Helm.
In the next game, the team was defeated by the Wellsville 1 team on Friday by a score of 16-14. Hits for the team were made
by Jessica Hill, Ellie Meinen, Hornberger, Helm, Keisha Collins, Nicki Smith and Alyssa Johnson. The player of the game was Meinen.
