Enrollment is Aug. 2 for Baldwin schools

July 26, 2000

The kids may still be in the swimming pool, but the newly stocked school supply aisles at area stores are a reminder that the start of school is right around the corner. Enrollment day is sooner.

Enrollment for Baldwin schools will be Wednesday, Aug. 2, at each school. Enrollment times are: Baldwin High School, 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m.; Baldwin Junior High School, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.; Baldwin Elementary School, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.; Vinland Elementary School, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Marion Springs Elementary School, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Students enrolling in the district for the first time should bring their immunization records, birth certificate, health assessment or physical exams forms, and social security card.

All non-resident students must receive pre-approval from the superintendent of schools prior to enrollment. This includes all students who previously attended the Baldwin schools, but will not reside within the district boundaries on the first day of school.

Activity tickets for BHS and BJHS activities may be purchased during enrollment. BHS activity tickets are $15 for students and $20 for adults. BJHS activity tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults.

Participants in school activities will be charged an activity user fee. Students in competitive activities that involve travel to other schools at the high school and junior high levels will be charged $20 per person, per activity. These fees will need to be paid prior to participation in competition. Any student who qualifies for free or reduced lunch will have the activity fee waived.

District assessment fees for textbooks and workbooks are: kindergarten, $16; grades 1-8, $29; grades 9-12, $39; and band instruments, $25.

School starts Aug. 17.
