Library to feature magic show

The Richard Guy Productions Magic Show, sponsored by the Maple Leaf Planning Committee, will be presented at 10 a.m today. The theme of the magic-filled program is "Ready, Set, Read!"

On Wednesday, July 19, spiders and honeybees will be the subject of the library program. Rachel Robson will share stories and her love of spiders at 10 a.m., and Barb Hinton will bring an observation hive of at 10:30 a.m.

Ice cream social set for tonight

Ice cream challenges the hot weather starting at 5 p.m. today at Ives Chapel United Methodist Church.

The annual ice cream social is sponsored by the Ives Chapel United Methodist Women. The menu includes homemade ice cream, pie and cake.

Scrapbook workshop meets July 19

A Creative Memories workshop with Kim Hubbel will be from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at the Baldwin City Public Library.

Ives Chapel UMW to meet for breakfast

The Ives Chapel United Methodist Women will meet at the home of Joy Uthoff at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 19, for a general meeting and breakfast.

Democrat group to meet Thursday

The South Douglas County Democrats will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Baldwin City Public Library. The meeting is open to all democrats.

Location available for tire drop-off
A free drop-off site for waste tires will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at the Baldwin City wastewater treatment plant.

The collection is part of a Douglas County clean-up effort.

Douglas County will have people and equipment at the Baldwin City location to assist with the unloading of tires.
