Baker professors ‘experts’ to Smithsonian

July 5, 2000

Two Baker University professors are featured in a July "Smithsonian" magazine. Roger Boyd, professor of biology and department chair, and Cal Cink, professor of biology, are interviewed in the article, "Nightjars are Everywhere, but Just Try Finding One." It discusses photographer William Burt's journey to take photos of whip-poor-wills and chuck-will's-widows. Both bird species are part of the nightjar family.

Cink and Boyd took Burt through the woods around Baldwin City to search for the birds. Their search was successful. Burt calls them both "experts on the nightjar family" in the article.

"Smithsonian" magazine is published nationally by the Smithsonian Institution. A description of the article is available at www.smithsonianmag.com.
