Ruth L. Guenther
Services for Ruth L. Guenther, 84, Baldwin City, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Baldwin City. Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Guenther died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 4, 1915, in Nebraska City, Neb., the daughter of Earle and Bessie (James) Lease. She graduated from Liberty Memorial High School, Lawrence, in 1933.
Mrs. Guenther was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Baldwin Garden Club, Baldwin African Violet Club and National African Violet Clubs. She was also a charter member of the United Methodist Women, and a former member of Extension Homemakers Unit.
She married William Fred Guenther on Oct. 25, 1934 in Topeka. He died Jan. 28, 1993.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley N. Ackerman, Wichita, Brenda K. Biermann, Hardin, Mont.; a son, William E. Guenther, Morgan Hill, Calif.; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. A son, James E. Guenther, died Sept. 26, 1956
Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, which may be sent in care of the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, P.O. Box 64, Baldwin City.
