Supt.'s contract extended; principal's renewed
Supt. James White's contract was extended a year following his first evaluation since his move to Baldwin in July. Board member evaluations of White were discussed in executive session Monday night.
"I feel like he is doing an excellent job," said board member Roger Arnold.
Contracts for the district's principals and assistant principals also were renewed following the executive session: Joe Gresnick, Baldwin High School principal; Allen Poplin, BHS assistant principal; Connie Wright, Baldwin Junior High School principal; Bret Jones, BJHS assistant principal; Tom Mundinger, Baldwin Elementary School principal; Deb Ehling-Gwin, BES assistant principal; Bill Scott, Vinland Elementary School principal; Gus Wegner, Marion Springs Elementary School principal.
White said salaries for the administrative positions will not be considered until completion of contract negotiations between the district and teachers later this year.
Lunch charges mulled at BHS
BHS students are not allowed to charge lunches if they forget their lunch money. However, the board is reconsidering its policy to prevent students from finding themselves in an embarrassing situation.
Board members were willing to allow kids to charge two lunches from the hot meal line or a sandwich, chips and drink from the ala carte line. However, no final decision was made.
"I feel strongly that kids ought to eat," White said.
The board will discuss the subject more at its March meeting.
