Frost, Bacon, Pringle named top players
This week's Baldwin High School girls players of the week are Amber Frost for the varsity, Jodie Bacon for the junior varsity and Kayla Pringle for the freshmen.
Frost, a 5-foot-10 senior post, has been rock solid for BHS all season. She showed that again this week by leading the team in scoring and rebounding in three straight games. Frost had 14 points against Kansas City Schlagle, 18 against Gardner and 19 against Eudora. She also had more than 20 rebounds during the span, including 12 against Eudora.
"Amber has been very steady for us all year," said coach Mike Berg. "For her size, going against bigger post players inside, she's a dominating player."
Frost has also sizzled from the floor and hit eight of 11 field goals against Gardner and eight of 13 against Eudora.
"She's shooting over 50 percent most nights," said Berg. "It's good to have someone inside putting the ball in the hole."
Bacon, a 5-4 sophomore, had 12 points in the win over Eudora and eight against Gardner. She also chipped in with five steals against Eudora.
"Jodie had a very good week defensively," he said. "She's really improved on that side of the ball. She scored 14 points in the varsity games for us and is doing very well."
Pringle, a 5-0 guard, had 15 points against Gardner, but also did other things well.
"Kayla had six assists in two games and has been playing some outstanding defense," he said.
