LILLIAN ANN CORNELIUS
Visitation for Lillian Ann Cornelius, 96, Baldwin City, will be 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, Baldwin City. She died Sunday, December 17, 2000 at the Baldwin Care Center in Baldwin City.
Mrs. Cornelius was born May 19, 1904 at Baldwin City, the daughter of Emil and Catherine (McCarty) Henon. She attended schools in Baldwin City and graduated from the Lawrence Business School in 1921.
She married Joseph C. Cornelius on March 18, 1933 at Lyndon. They were married 20 years. He died January 20, 1954.
She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Lawrence, Topeka and Wichita as a phone operator. She moved to Elmira, N.Y. to work for the New York Telephone Company as office supervisor. She worked over 46 years in the telephone business and retired in 1968. She moved back to Baldwin City to be closer to family and friends.
She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Elmira, N.Y.; the Eagles Club in Elmira, N.Y.; B.P.O. Does; Telephone Pioneers and the R.E.A.C. Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Joseph.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Jeanne Hentzler, Topeka; two nieces, Dolores Clarridge and Dorthea Jackson, both of Baldwin City and a nephew, John Jackson, Baldwin City.
Burial will be at a later date at the Highland Cemetery in Elkland, Pa. A memorial service will follow at a later date in Elkland.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Christ United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society in care of the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, P.O. Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
