The city is republishing its 2001 budget and has scheduled a second public hearing during a regular meeting of the City Council at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Baldwin City Public Library.

This week’s “Yard of the Week” belongs to Ruth Payne, 820 Lincoln. The main reason Danny and I chose Payne’s yard is because it is well planned for year round beauty. Last winter on a cold, blustery day, we were out for our daily walk and noticed some beautiful bushes with bright, cheery berries in front of this home.

The 93rd annual Vinland Fair marks the 15th year Jan Nitcher has been designing buttons (and t-shirts) for the fair. This year’s design is of the fair barn, which was also the subject of the button 10 years ago.
