Electrical outage Friday on KCPL side
A two-hour electrical outage Friday night was caused by a downed line near Wellsville.
Baldwin utility director Terry McKinney said a KCPL line dropped onto another line, causing transformers to blow and cutting the feed of electricity to Baldwin City and rural residents around 11:30 p.m. Friday.
"When these two came in contact, it blew fuses and transformers and dropped the whole line that feeds Baldwin City. It appears it happened someplace around Wellsville, and that is where we get the feed," McKinney said. "We didn't have any problems in town."
Repairs were made by KCPL and service was returned about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, McKinney said.
"A lineman was at the substation until the feed was back on," he said.
