Ottawa University will present its annual Christmas Vespers concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, in the University Chapel. Admission is free and open to the public. This year's program will feature a unique combination of music, both sacred and secular, new and familiar. The OU Jazz Singers will perform a pair of tunes by Alfred S. Burt, “Caroling, Caroling” and “We’ll Dress the House.” The OU Choir, under the direction of Dr. Jeff Anderson, will sing Karl Jenkin's "The Prayer: Laudamus te," "Lux Aurumque" by Eric Whitacre, and Gustav Holst's medley of English carols "Christmas Day," which will be performed with the OU Orchestra. The OU orchestra will perform Engelbert Humperdinck's "Evening Blessing and Dream Pantomime," Leroy Anderson's popular "Sleigh Ride," and the traditional finale to New Year's Day in Vienna, Johann Strauss Sr.'s "Radetzky March." Congregational carols will be accompanied by orchestra and organ.
